- Shame about Tang Hui. Despite our on-again/off-again relationship with them, we wanted to see it work -- and still do.
- Those we hope *do* have a permit will be the ones putting on that massive two-day event next weekend, brilliantly named “1234 Beach Rock”, featuring more than 25 bands and being the first two-day music event in Shanghai … ever (we think). No website yet, so listen for updates on our, ahem, great show.
…and of course, what post is complete without (more) shameless self-promotion?
A quick (like you haven’t been talking about it on your phones) reminder of tomorrow night's GigLive show at BonBon. For the few who haven’t been in cool enough circles to discuss last week’s happenings, a “band vs. crowd” beer fight erupted leaving us with no sound system -- thank fuck we had enough Neil Diamond on our iPods and free booze (88 kuai at the door -- three bands, all-you-can-drink).
This week's totally rad show:
Wednesday, September 6, 9:30 pm
GigLive @ BonBon
Mad Mushroom Brigade
Midnight Bus
Flying Fruit
88 RMB, all-you-can-drink
… if you don’t know those bands, shame on you. Fortunately there are people and venues willing to stage underground tunes for you -- all you have to do is show up (except for you, Culture Bureau).
So, you know -- see you tomorrow night.
