According to this news clip from Phoenix TV, some human resources consulting firm (a few perfunctory Google searches turned up nothing) released a ranking of world leaders by monthly income (not net worth). At the top of the list is Singapore's Lee Hsien Long, who makes about 380,000 Hong Kong dollars a month. President George W. Bush (oh, how it hurts to say that) is pretty high up on the list as well. President Hu Jintao is near the bottom of the list. Though the clip doesn't say specifically the amount, they say that he makes 1/126 of what Lee makes. Dividing 380,000 by 126 and then converting to RMB using September 13 mid-market rates we get about 3,080.36490588489 RMB. We thought this figure pretty low -- we know that people don't become presidents for the money, but for the ability to wield undue power over the lives of ordinary people who would do better without them. Still, it seems a bit low. Something like 30,800 seems more reasonable, and still low, but we're guessing the perks more than make up for it.
