While strolling the
imported foods aisle last night at the Wuning Lu
Carrefour, we paused for a moment at one of the sections: It was labeled "Taiwangese." This place called Taiwang is truly a foreign land -- they have images of
baseball on their packets of instant noodles.
The name of the brand is Uni-President and you can view their noodle website here.
To add some more info: Baseball is highly popular in Taiwang, having it's own pro-league and people being generally excited about baseball incl the North American Major League... that may be the reason for the baseball pics on the packages.
But it's interesting to see how Taiwang is always a truly foreign country when it comes to imports of all kinds of consumer goods to china.
Hah, that's hilarious. Imported, mmm? Is the mispelling a loophole, perhaps?
That locale is an "integral part of China" when it comes to crushing the democratic, free society and snatching all of the good technology but still "foreign" when it comes to slapping a huge import tax on a superior product.
That's right... baseball is huge in Taiwan. Even the NT$500 bill has a baseball team on it.

I am aware of baseball's popularity in Taiwan. I just get excited when I see references to baseball on the Mainland ... even if they were shipped here from Taiwan.
