Extra! Extra! German art students, hackers and China's Larry King

• Beijing officials have rejected the rumors that all the migrant workers in Beijing would be expelled during the Olympics. The Olympics welcomes poor people!
• Most of the aspiring hackers out there no doubt know that Baidu received its most damaging attack from a hacker ever on the afternoon of September 12. The search engine was down (or at least severely hampered?) for about half and hour. It's been said that "Trail," the hacker responsible for this attack, only used six-tenths of his hacking prowess and resources for this attack. Apparently, he/she used a fairly easy (by their standards) method of hacking Baidu, but now is a bit worried that he might have to face the music for this one.

• Shit happens, case in point is the movie version of Shanghai Baby starring no less than Bai Ling and Hu Bin.
• A German art student disguised as a terracotta warrior jumps into the pit with the real terracotta warriors and fools the authorities, who take several minutes to find the "living" warrior and escort (carry) him out.
• Lang Hsien-ping speaks to the Western media about why his talk show was canceled. According to him, it's because his muckraking style made some powerful people squirm, and no one likes squirming. The official reason was that his Mandarin isn't standard -- Lang was born and raised in Taiwan. We've heard him speak, and his Mandarin is better than that of many Chinese government officials, but the standards are different for TV personalities. Rare is the Taiwan born intellectual of Lang's age (50) who would actually bother trying to make a career out of dissecting the Chinese financial world and tackling thorny issues like corruption in the PRC.
