- Martial arts actor Jet Li fell off a building while filming a fight sequence for his movie Fearless. Evidently the mishap occurred because the stunt man Li was fighting was "so scared of him." We didn't see a mention of how tall the building was, but the director said Li likely only suffered a "bruised bum."
- Murder and arson in Xuhui District: On Kangjian Lu, a man stabbed his wife and mother-in-law and then set his apartment on fire. All three died. The man's 12-year-old son is in critical condition suffering from burns and smoke inhalation.
- A survey shows that 16.5 percent of Shanghai residents admit wearing pajamas in public. Another 25 percent say they sometimes wear pajamas in public. The remaining 58.5 percent are liars.
- A skin whitening cream manufactured in Guangzhou is said to be addictive. Seriously.
- "Disappearing Shanghai," an exhibit featuring photos by New York Times Shanghai bureau chief Howard French, opens October 3 ... in Berlin. Check out some of French's photos here.
- Chinese are fatter, but more fit, a government survey shows. And Shanghai residents are the healthiest in the country (except for the 336 city residents who were poisoned by pork tainted with a weight-loss steroid popular among bodybuilders).
- The world's first penis transplant, which occurred in Guangzhou, was a medical success -- but the patient and his wife had trouble accepting the new family member. The penis had to be removed.
- Jackie Chan: Porn star!
- Background music during phone calls? Puh-lease.
- Blog platform Wordpress.com appears to be unblocked in China.
