When will china become a developed country? One hurdle to overcome is the mentality of "everyone is picking on me/looking down me, other countries are to blame for my problems, etc" combined with constantly reliving VERY faded glory.

Many topics on this board involve goading over China's past domination of Asia in all facets, yet that is quickly forgotten in the name of a pity party of one when it comes to looking at the western nations and Japan. China used to be the big boy on the block and push everyone around, now things aren't so hot and its the fault of the western devils.

You get the picture? Heck, its a sad joke to read the praises of the early Qing dynasty and at the same time it was the corruption and lack of "chineseness" among the barbaric manchurians that led to china's downfall at the hand of the western devils.

C'mon. One big reason I pick on China is that among all of the other up and coming regional and global powers and the player haters is that China should know better when it comes to political reform, proper use of science and technology, diplomacy, etc. and yet the government sounds more like Burma, NK or any number of african countries.

Until China has a major change in its self image, all of the skyscrapers, reverse engineered technolgy and Ivy league MBAs in the central bank won't mean crap.
