The classification thing. When I read about it a report said that homosexuality was still a mental disorder. It was originally classified here as mental disorder: perversion and it was downgraded to mental disorder: personality problem.

It just confirms what you see in every country. Allegedly intelligent/educated people in high places, such as doctors, lawyers, professors etc, are just as bonkers as the next person.

Nope, if both parents are Chinese citizens, it will be considered a domestic adoption.

If one or both parents are foreign, and if the adopted child is to taken on a foreign passport, then he or she will have to give up Chinese citizenship because China does not allow dual citizenship as far as I understand.

If you're American, then you will have to take the citizenship oath on behalf of the child at the consulate-general in Guangzhou before the child leaves China, if I'm not wrong.

Is it still considered an international adoption if the people wishing to adopt are Chinese citizens living abroad? 5% seems like a very restrictive limit considering how many Americans are interested in adopting girls from Asia. In fact, I see a lot of them around Washington DC. The girls usually seem rather happy and spoiled. :)

The typically Chinese thing about the adoptions is that there is ONE company which HAS TO handle all adoptions for it to be legal. They are called something like 'China Women's Federation'. I guess they are owned by Hu Jintao's niece of somesuch other bullshit.
