nanheyangrouchuan, on what basis do you make that claim? That because there'll be more men than women, the guys will come out as gay? You're confusing gay with MSMs (men who have sex with men but do not identify as gay). Would you suddenly become gay because you are in a predominantly male environment? Anyway, Chinese will be rich enough to import lovely ladies from neighbouring countries so I don't think there'll be a problem.

PUB CRAWL UPDATE: The LBGT bus is full! Actually, we are turning people away.... or at least telling them they'll need to take a taxi to follow us around. That's 47 people! FYI- to speed up the process at each bar, we will be phoning in our order for simple drinks like beer, wine, barcardi, etc from the bus. Those who would like cocktails will order from the bar when we arrive (and risk pounding the drink to get back on the bus in time for the next bar)! Should be a great time and look for the man who's flying in from Shandong province to join in the festivities!

Dear Halloween Shanghaiist Readers, As a birthday celebrant and a new expat to Shanghai, I want to share this moment,feeling and my 'around' the way. I met and still am meeting many people because of my persona of friendly, crazy and sometimes brazenly. I came across malignant, indifferent and sometimes total ignorance about this thing called bisexual, transexual,lesbian or gay. Now I've run into posh,poor,rich,bitchy, so-called intellectual, scene, non scene and others that are somewhat in between. I've found nasty, insipid, frigid, livid, intrepid, and sometimes quite stupid, Mixed, fixed, money for tricks, pricks, does things just for kicks, then there are the closet ones, racially vocal and physical abusive runs, and ones that just want to have fun, lastly being subjected to stares, glares, conversational flares, and I am honestly a person that cares, when I end this by saying the most ghastly, nasty and most importantly yet lastly, PEOPLE who treat you INFERIOR are the ones who HAVE the INSECUREST INTERIORS. So I suggest to those ones displaying negative EXTERIORS 'hug a tree' and then GrOw like it before the world passes you by....... Shanghai may be transient at times and cold but you find the warmth when you create it. From a voyuear who's in but relates to the one's who are out- whatever way you want to read that. Peace, Love and Freedom mate to both locals and visiting. Happy Halloween from an Aussie who celebrates life not just this occasion.

SMOKERS DIE! This has nothing to do with gay Shanghai (though I do think anybody proclaiming themselves as a 'fag-hag' is likely a 'fag-hag' poseur), but I just need to go-off somewhere today and say: I F***** HATE SMOKERS! I'm so tired of being ininadated in every cafe and restaurant I go to in Shanghai with smelly-ass smokers, both Chinese and foreigners. I hope every smoker who has ever lit up in public with indifference to those around them dies a wretchedly horrible and excruciatingly painful, early, cancerous death. My fantasy is to stand over these fuckers' deathbeds as they cough and wheeze in their final moments, and bark in their face: “How you like smoking now, bitch!”
