The restaurant is called Southern Barbarian, and it is up in Zhabei District, our old stomping grounds. They sent us an email back in September. Here is what it said:
… a Yunnan restaurant called Southern Barbarian, specialising in cross-the-bridge noodles 过桥米线. Our chef has just arrived straight from Mengzi in Yunnan, home of cross-the-bridge noodles.
They had a party over the weekend to celebrate their second floor “barbecue bar.” The owners have another restaurant in Beijing. It’s — you guessed it — a fish and chip shop called Fish Nation. It’s thought to be the first chippy on the Mainland. If Southern Barbarian is a success, they might open a chippy down here, too. Nice.
