Seems this year is the year of the real Christmas trees! Two outfits are in town this year FINALLY offering Shanghai Expats a choice of trees. In addition to that which Shanghaiist Ryan has offered to us, there are also solutions just a phonecall away. The first is Villa Lifestyles, working with the Beijing Christmas Tree Store to offer 1-4 meter tall trees starting at 399 delivered with no chinese required, just call and order thru Leroy or Susan at their store in Hong Qiao. They will deliver a tree to your door. :) More info can be found by clicking here
5119-1310 is their store number to order by phone.
Another option is an outfit calling themsleves the Danish Christmas Tree company. based on info ShanghaiExpat has found, it is coming from a trading company and they are offering IMPORTED Danish real trees. Their prices are in the 600+rmb range including delivery and a stand. According to the ad "Call Maggie 5045-4088"

A tried and true way of getting a real tree, and a very environmentally friendly way at that, is to actually buy a LIVE tree, something this ShanghaiExpat has done in years past before the availability of Fresh cut trees. Contact your grounds keepers or management company and many will arrnage for a potted tree to be delieveed to your door. Last price I paid was 250rmb and they took it away after i was done with it to plant somewhere on the grounds :)
