Anyhow, after the taping was done the regular GigLive music show began. It was night of local punk rock, featuring Happy Sky, Mortal Fools, and Loudspeaker. We’ve heard that Happy Sky were formed recently, and it showed — we know that punk is loud and brash, but you still need musicianship. After awhile, they all seemed to be playing to the beat of a different drum.
Mortal Fools have a good deal of stage presence and charisma, esp. the guy dressed like a Blues Brother and the singer, who we just like taking pictures of to catalog the numerous ways he contort his face and body.
And that brings us to Loudspeaker, who always put on a polished act, even when random people jump on and off the stage (not enough crowd to crowd surf safely). And while all the bands that played last night could be categorized as punk, Loudspeaker was the only band among the three that truly felt punk.
