Tonight at Live Bar: The Scoff, garage rock from Beijing
Someone in the Shanghaiist forum wanted to know "what's happening with the shows at Live Bar." Well, Shanghaiist is happy to report that things are happening just fine with the shows at Live Bar — and tonight they've got a great lineup:
- The Scoff (pictured): Who some people are calling "one of the most popular bands in Beijing right now" — of course "some people" means Brad, who owns Live Bar, but he's a good guy and we trust him. Expect high energy retro-garage ... these guys are 18 years old. There's a song file at their MySpace page.
- Banana Monkey: Garage and psychobilly from Shanghai. Check them out at MySpace and YouTube.
- Mortal Fools: Labeled punk, these guys wear leather jackets. There are a few videos at YouTube and they, like everyone else, are also on MySpace.
It's all supposed to kick off at 9 pm. Thirty kuai gets you entry and a drink. Live Bar also has an "interesting" show lined up for tomorrrow.
Worth noting for beer drinkers: Live Bar will have limited quantities of Samuel Adams on sale for 20 kuai. That's got to be the best price in the city. This is a test for the bar, so be sure to buy some Sam Adams to ensure that they keep stocking the beer in the future. (As always, Live Bar will also have 10 kuai Tsingtaos.)
