'Cracker Soda' is not a beverage for white people ...

crackersoda010807.jpg... it's just a cracker. And yes, it does come in "pickle flavor" and some "other delicious pickle flavor." It's manufactured by a company called Bai Rong (pronounced buy wrong) and can currently be bought for 10 kuai a box at Watsons.

Interesting that no Chinese characters appear on the front of the package. Could they (gasp) be intended for export?

We didn't purchase Cracker Soda (we had already filled up on Redneck Punch) and we didn't inspect the box closely, but an internet search turns up a Bai Rong Food Company in Guangdong Province. They make crackers. And in March 2006, the US Food and Drug Administration refused some of their "Chinese biscuits" because they were "filthy": "The article appears to consist in whole or in part of a filthy, putrid, or decomposed substance or be otherwise unfit for food."

It's Party Time!

For those who don't know the derogatory meaning of "cracker," look here.

Wow. So many filthy things in that link. i guess the FDA is doing at least something right.

I had higher expectations of watson's, though... Maybe they at least screened through some of the boxes? .... sigh. unlikely.
