007 in the 021: I'm Bangde, Zhanmusi Bangde

How big will the Shanghai premiere of Casino Royale be tomorrow night at Shanghai Film Art Center? Well, the stars of the movie will actually be there. And that doesn't happen too often — last month, Edward Norton flew to Beijing for a Painted Veil press conference, but didn't make the trip for the premiere in Shanghai the following day.

Daniel Craig, 007 himself, and Bond girl Eva Green are slated to appear at the Beijing premiere tonight and the Shanghai premiere on Tuesday. Organizers are promising a glamorous Hollywood style event with "Chinese and foreign stars." Doesn't seem too exclusive, though, because until they sold out, anyone could by tickets to the premiere for 100 kuai a pop (or 350 for five people). We haven't been able to find exactly what time the premiere starts. (UPDATE: This says it's at 4 pm.)

As you probably know, this is the first James Bond film in 45 years of 007 movie history to get China's seal of approval (it's also one of the darkest, most violent Bond movies in a long time ... maybe ever?), but, according to The Telegraph, is has been "accepted without a cut":

"What we told them is, we are fighting a common enemy, terrorists," said Li Chow, Sony's China head. "That was well accepted."

Sony said they expect it to be the highest-grossing foreign film in China this year, according to the AP. But James Bond plays poker for more money than Sony Pictures will likely take home: "China's state-owned distributor, China Film, gives foreign studios just 13 percent of box office revenues, the lowest such rate of any country."

Smirnoff is hosting a premiere after party at Park 97. And they say "maybe James Bond himself" will make an appearance. Hmmmmm. We suggest getting your money's worth in vodka just in case Mr. Bond has better things to do.
