Jeremy Miller shows us his smile again

jeremymillershanghaimilkfashion.jpgIn August 2005 we told you about former Growing Pains star Jeremy Miller's frenzy of acting activity here in Shanghai, but after a series of public appearances and tete-a-tetes with us media folks, he disappeared off the radar. We assumed that he was making the movie Milk and Fashion, which was plugged during all his appearances, and which we figured were more or less orchestrated for that purpose, since he normally doesn't appear in public and pose for pictures with kids for the hell of it.

Browsing through the news we found an article about Jeremy and the cast of Milk and Fashion returning to Shanghai to do some shooting. We're not sure where they are in terms of their production schedule. We know that part of the movie takes place in Yunnan, and that Shanghai is the place where two of the main characters return in order to fulfill their dreams, one as a (male) ballerina and the other as a fashion designer.

IMDb sums up the plot like this:

A story whci (sic) depicts the connection between Troy, a 13 year old American boy who has grown up in China and Yao Yao, the aspiring China fashion designer who befriends him. Their relationship grows out of their mutual love of ballet and Yao Yao's resemblance to Troy's late mother, a prima ballerina. "Milk and Fashion" is a film about difference and the partitions that difference in areas such as culture, languange (sic), gender and ideology all too often raise. It is a story about transgressing those differences and mending the interpersonal rifts that they create.

Both IMDb and a Chinese IMDb-like website list the year of release as 2008.

And if you're wondering who the hot blond in the picture is—it's Vanessa Branch, who appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean.

I can't believe they are still trying to make this movie. It sounds AWFUL. The film equivalent of Billy Elliot's redheaded, retarded stepson.

The cute girl in the picture was also in an episode of Entourage, playing a Chinese interpreter, who incidentally speaks better Mandarin than the "Chinese director."

IT STINKS! Heh, I love saying that in my best Jon Lovitz voice. Seriously, y'all need to stop treating this guy like the celebrity he no longer is. I can make a better movie on my mobile phone.

Is that Namu with the flower boots and hot pink wrap? Wow- 6 degrees of seperation just took a weird twist to think that the author of "Leaving Mother lake" is hanging with the twerpy little brother from Growing Pains.
