MeiJob.com: We think we know what mei stands for

Virtual China introduces us to a new bilingual job website called MeiJob.com: "An AJAX-powered job search engine, with personal and company profiles, email alerts, notes, and a really, really shiny logo."

And while MeiJob may have all the latest technological bells and whistles, it's good to see they still support more traditional Chinese hiring practices, like discriminatory language in job ads. Here is a "Translator" job listing:

above college degree, majored in English of Science & Technology or Electromechanical Integration; years of experience engaged in electromechanical translation (English); familiar with terminology in mechanical fabrication; excellent writing skill both in English and Chinese and good oral expression capacity, and good at computer operation; good sense of responsibility, ethics and teamwork spirit, able to endure work pressure; proper facial features and fine personality; familiarity in metallurgical machinery fabrication will be a plus.

Probably more offensive than the phrase in bold — which is actually pretty standard language for job ads here — is the salary meeting all those requirements will get you: 1,000 to 2,000 RMB a month.
