We didn't start the fire (in Pudong)!

thumbplaza.jpgWe had some matters to attend to at the Thumb Plaza in Pudong today and as we arrived, we sensed something was amiss as the air smelt of fire and everything was smoky. The sirens started wailing and in true Shanghai fashion, people ran out (literally) en masse to see the show, and a cloud of smoke was rising from the second floor of some Chinese restaurant called Tasty Hall. The fire brigade arrived, and the men set about to put out the fire. Shanghaiist loves men in uniform but alas, we were running late for his appointment.

Did anyone else see the fire?
