Win tickets to see Bugz in the Attic this Thursday!

UK supergroup Bugz in the Attic — yes, they of “Booty La La” fame — are in town this Thursday on a killer double-bill with The Nextmen. Shanghaiist is very excited — so excited, in fact, that we thought we’d spread our enthusiasm (and the love!) with a ticket giveaway. Thanks, Bacardi.

The Bugz finally released their debut studio LP, Back in the Dog House, last July despite having done remixes for the likes of 4Hero, Zero 7 and Jazzanova for over a decade. The album was IDJ’s top pick for 2006 and while Shanghaiist thinks that honour may be just a wee bit over the top, we agree that it is a damn fine dance album. Tongue-in-cheek compositions channel 70s stardust and 80s boogie, then toss them in the gritty, dirty bass that us new millennium kids can’t seem to get enough of.

Fellow Londoners The Nextmen (Among the Madness, Get Over It, Blunted in the Backroom) will open. These reggae-tinged producers have worked with the likes of J-Live, Z-Trip, Tali, Blackalicious, Stanton Warriors, Morcheeba and Groove Armada to produce irresistibly catchy hip hop with a funky electronic bent. MC Wrec and Dynamite MC are frequent collaborators — a definite good sign.

Shanghaiist is giving away eight tickets in all (four sets of two), just cuz we’re so darn generous. Just fill out the form below (please provide real email addresses and phone numbers ... we won't use them for anything else) — the four lucky winners will be notified on Thursday afternoon.

Bacardi Sino Sessions presents Bugz in the Attic (with The Lab, Nextmen and Hobbes). Thursday, March 15 at Absolute House (Bldg 6, X2 Creative, 20 Chaling Lu near Xietu Lu). RMB 80 advance (60 for students), 120 at the door (includes one Bacardi drink). Tickets at 5108 6789 or tickets@spli-t.com.
