Beer Watch: American microbrews enter Shanghai market
A new organization called the American Craft Beer Partners (ACBP) has a mission statement you don't need to be drunk to rally behind: "[T]o bring some of the best craft beers in America to China and make them readily available to beer drinkers in Shanghai." These guys are the early front-runners for Shanghaiist 2007 People of the Year.
They just received their first container shipment of 100 or so cases. Contents include (with ratebeer.com percentile score in parentheses):
Rogue American Amber (86)
North Coast Red Seal Amber (84)
Rogue Dead Guy Ale (83)
Brooklyn Lager (78)
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale (78)
Acme California Pale Ale (35)
Yummy. Now, where can you find these beers? Right now, only one location: Bubba's Texas-Style Bar-B-Que & Saloon in Hongqiao. But the guys at ACBP are working on securing presence in other bars and restaurants as we speak — seriously, right now. We're not sure if Bubba's already has these brews on sale (call them at 62422612 to make sure), and we're not sure exactly how much they will cost (although the ACBP estimated somewhere in the RMB 40-50 range). According to the ACBP's press release, Bubba's is having a beer tasting sometime on March 31. Sadly, none of you will be able to attend it, because you will all be at the Shanghaiist Happy Hour at ENO.

There's an import grocery store on Anfu Lu near Wulumuqi Lu called FeiDan. They have Cooper's Sparkling Ale for 9.1 kuai a bottle. And they deliver. Tel: 54036991. Just leave some for us!
