Hi Mr Manning,

Due to security concerns surrounding the Olympics, all of Beijing's pre-Olympic games this 2008 season are away games. Your best bet to catch some baseball this month is to make a day trip to Tianjin. In fact this year the opening ceremony is being held there on Friday. The series this weekend is Tianjin Lions vs Guangzhou Leopards, and the games are at:

http://www.cbl.org.cn/schedule/
Fri: 6:20pm (Opening Ceremony 5:45)
Sat: 2:00pm (Fan Appreciation Day)
Sun: 9:30am

The stadium is called Tianjin Daoqi Baseball Stadium (天津体育学院道奇棒球场) and it's near the south edge of the city, at the cross roads Heinui Chengdao and Huanhu Zhonglu (黑牛城道环湖中路) just down the street from the back gate of the Tianjin Sports University, whom the field belongs to. How do I know this area so well? Partly Baidu Maps, and partly because I lived 2 minutes away from this exact field back in 2001-2002!

Any ideas where the Beijing Tigers are playing these days? What's the price of a ticket? I'd like to go see the game this Sunday against Sichuan if I can find out some more info.

Ok so does anyone know how one becomes eligible for participation in this league as a player? There doesn't appear to be any contact information on the site. Any advice would be helpful, thanks. From the looks of some of the images and lack of fitness, perhaps another club for the privileged in China ie: CSL?

Watching the yankees trounce the twins on MLB.COM this morning, with just a regular old DSL connection, it is actually quite good quality but on occassion can be a little slow. Totally worth it though, makes the mornings so much more enjoyable to wake up and watch a game!!!

Sweet... baseball in Taiwan ruled. Great atmosphere with the fans really getting into it. I'm not sure how baseball on the mainland will match up (Taiwan's sole moment of glory at the World Baseball Classic was when they smoked China), but I'd like to find out.
