We are sitting in City Diner, aka the office, making our usual rounds on Chinese blogs and news sites. On our table are two cards advertising a startling development in the diner's drinks list: Brooklyn East India Pale and Rogue Dead Guy Ale are now available for consumption at Rmb40 a bottle.
But that's not all. When inquiring as to the price of said beers, we noticed a further development of CD's push to attract a more alcohol-minded crowd (note the new bar). According to the chalkboard which advertises the restaurant's soups of the day and dessert specials, patrons can now enjoy buy-one-get-one-free cocktails between the hours of 6pm and 6am. The two-for-one special does not include the new beers—sorry.
The 12-hour happy hour deal got us thinking: Why not just halve the price of drinks all 24 hours? Is City Diner attracting a lucrative brunch-cocktails crowd? Are alcoholics at the Kerry Centre running up tabs over business lunches? How many people are drinking between the hours of 6am and 6pm?
Anyway, back to the grind. And the beer. And the bottomless coffee.

I think they mean 6pm to 6am (6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm...)
The last time I was in there outside of those hours, there were a pair of transexual Kazakhstani prostitutes trying to goad me into a two-for-one deal.
Thank God there wasn't a little voice in my head saying
"Go on son, happy hour's over anyway"
Sorry, I mean "The last time a mate of mine was..."
Yo, dudes, this blog just gets cuter every damn day! You guys are doing a beautiful job reflecting the utter vacuity of Shanghai. Keep up the good work and mind the brewskies!
