Pencil This In: Things to do this week in Shanghai

Today, April 24th
Indie legends, Sonic Youth play at the Shanghai Concert Hall from 8pm tonight. Contact the promoters to find a spare ticket on 6474 0787, or otherwise beg, borrow and plead to dig one up. Maybe your friendly ticket tout might be at the venue. 523 Yan'an Dong Lu (near Xizang Lu). Prices RMB380-580 a pop.

Tomorrow, April 25th
Bubba's is hosting the inaugural Texan's In Exile (T.I.E.) group meeting. As KJ says "Texans please attend. Those who hold a special place for Texas in their hearts, please also feel free to attend". The group meets up from 6:30pm. 2262 Hongqiao Road, Gubei. Phone 021 6242 2612.

LOgO hosts their weekly Freaklub event. This week features "Jose & his sax, guesting DJs BanXy & To:Be, and the as always DJs tootekool, micrometropolice, Ben Huang + a VJ Exit [OS]." 13 Xingfu near Fahuazhen Road from 10pm onwards. Doors open from 7pm. Free entry. Phone 6281 5646 for details.

Thursday, April 26th
JZ Club hosts the SCAA Talent Quest. Go support your furry friends! RMB100 entry includes snacks and a-la-carte drinks(????). 6:30-9:30pm, 46 Fuxing Xi Lu.

C's Bar hosts the latest Antidote electronic music party on Dingxi Road. No cover and RMB10 beers and drinks. The night kicks off from 9pm.

Friday, April 27th
City Diner Hongmei (City Diner, 3211 Hongmei Lu, near Hongqiao Lu, Tel: 6401-1600,
虹梅路 3211号,近虹桥路) has its grand opening, which includes a burger eating competition for gluttonists, at 7pm. Shanghaiist's editor was quoted in saying "this could be a law suit waiting to happen".

Etienne and Friends keep on returning to La Bella Cafe. French and gypsy jazz from 9pm to 11pm'ish. Free entry. 127 Yongfu Road, near Fuxing Road.

Saturday, April 28th
This is the last day to catch AutoShanghai 2007 and all the new models on display. Shanghai New International Expo Center, 2345 Longyang Road, Pudong.

Cold Fairyland opens the new SUS2 Music Factory and Bar on Dingxi Road. All the details can be found via Upcoming.org and the SUS2 website. 685 Dingxi Road from 9:30pm onwards. Cold Fairyland's website says its a free event.

Attica hosts Ibiza superclub Pacha for a night. Ibiza Pacha resident DJ Sarah Main keeps things moving that evening. Pre-sale tickets RMB100. See Attica's website for more details.

Sunday, April 29th
Shanghai's Franken-football team, Shanghai Shenhua take on newly-promoted Zhejiang Lucheng at Yuanshen Stadium. This Chinese Super League evening game kicks off at 7:45pm.
