We use the word "blockbuster" very loosely. Via our Contribute page we found this recent post by Shanghai blogger Jakob Montrasio:
So I just checked out the new ‘Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer’ trailer and guess what’s in it: the Oriental Pearl TV Tower! Awesome, seems like Mission Impossible 3 did it’s part in bringing more moviemakers to China. I wonder though, if the directors are going to show any clothes hanging around this time.
When we read this, were blown away — they actually made another Fantastic Four movie? The first one was pretty bad.
We don't think Rise of the Silver Surfer brought any movie makers to Shanghai, however. Seems to be a CGI job to us. Nothing other than the Pearl Tower looks like Shanghai, and supposedly the movie was shot entirely in Canada.
Check out the trailer for yourself. More screen caps at Jakob's blog.

Electrolist: Underground/overground clash again

"Seems to be a CGI job to us."
Nah, I think the movie company send some camera-apprenice's to Shanghai and made them actually film a bit, and then they mixed that material with CG characters. That's way cheaper then to model parts of Shanghai, IMHO...
But cool nonetheless!
And by the way, did you know that ULTRAVIOLET was shot completely in Shanghai? The movie sucked, but some shots were great.
As far as movies shot in shanghai, Code 46 is pretty good.
I was so disappointed by ultraviolet. Not even Milla Jovovich, with a gun in each hand, could save it from being such garbage.
As bad as Fantastic Four was, more Jessica Alba is always welcome.
