  • Guangdong, China - 25 year old Chinese woman Yang Huiyan is now Asia's richest woman and China's richest person after her father transfers his shares to her and the company debuts on the Hong Kong stock exchange. At $9 billion, Yang is richer than George Soros, Steve Jobs of Apple and Rupert Murdoch of News Corp. But sorry guys, she is already married!
  • Singapore - Founding father of modern Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, acknowledging the view that some people are genetically destined to be homosexual, has questioned the city-state's ban on sex between men.
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Malaysia's information minister has suggested labeling some bloggers as amateurs to prevent them from misleading readers with lies and rumors, the national news agency reported.
  • Brisbane, Australia - The fossilised bones of Australia's largest dinosaur went on display Thursday, with experts predicting the find will rewrite what is known of the country’s prehistoric past.
  • Morrinsville, New Zealand - The duck shooting season is off to a bad start with a hunter shot in the face. And he manages to escape with only "minor injuries"!
  • Colombo, Sri Lanka - More than 125,000 people have been driven out of their homes and 16 killed following flash floods in the Sri Lankan capital and neighbouring areas.
  • Ghor Haditha, Jordan - Jordan, Israel and the Palestinians are slowly pushing through the tangle of their disputes and suspicions in a race to save a biblical and ecological treasure, the Dead Sea.
  • Thimpu, Bhutan - Bhutan's transition from an absolute monarchy to democracy has taken another leap forward with a third political party being formed to fight the general elections next year.
  • Hanoi, Vietnam - Bird flu has reappeared in Vietnam! A flock of ducks that died last week on a farm in central Vietnam has tested positive for avian influenza.
  • Manama, Bahrain - Bahrain took full ownership of Gulf Air on Saturday as joint-owner Oman withdrew from the loss-making carrier.
  • Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Saudi authorities beheaded Saturday a Saudi man convicted of slaying a Yemeni boy whom he had tried to molest, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.
