Shanghai's Students to benefit from ChinaNext Photography Auction

Shanghaiist wants to spread the word about an upcoming charity event this Saturday night organised by members of Shanghai's Flickr community. Local Flickr identities ShanghaiSky, ThomasTribe, OppoHash (among others*) have organised a fund-raising night for local student charity, Shanghai Sunrise.

The charity auction is based around one of the Shanghai Meet-up groups regular events. All of the auction proceeds and 30% of the night's takings will go directly to the local Hongqiao school, Xin Shi Ji Xiaoxue, where 1750 students of the school are in dire need of a new library.

The interesting thing about this auction is that the photographs were all contributed by Flickrites, some of who we regularly feature on Shanghaiist (via our Shanghaiist Contribute page). Award winning Shanghai-based Reuter's photojournalist, Nir Elias judged this competition against the theme - ChinaNext: The Future of China.

For a sneak preview of the chosen images, check out this ChinaNext group Flickr thread. The entries submitted to the ChinaNext competition can also be viewed here, and will be streamed during the evening.

ChinaNext: The Future of China - Photography Auction for Charity will be held on Saturday night at 7pm, La Bella Cafe, 127 Yongfu Road (near Fuxing West Road).

ChinaNext photograph and flyer was created by ThomasTribe, and was found via the Shanghaiist Contribute page.
