Survivor China Update: Remote island of ... Jiangxi?

survivorchinalogo052107.jpgBecause we know you had trouble sleeping last night wondering what the latest Survivor China news was, here's what Shanghaiist reader Louise emailed to tell us last week:

  • Via Survivor Skills: "A reliable source has revealed to SurvivorSkills that the production for Survivor 15 will be based in the Jiangxi Province of Mainland China. The filming locales, and base camp should be around 40 km (24 miles) from the capital of Nanchang ...”
  • They have unveiled a logo (pictured) and it has just about everything you would expect from an American TV logo about China, except for Yao Ming and a Chinese take-out box. The Chinese characters on the logo say, "Compete in intelligence, compete in skill, compete in endurance."
  • CBS started running promos about the show last week. The voiceover:
This, is China. Where the modern world meshes with 5,000 years of colorful history. This is the first time a major American television program will shoot an entire series on location, in the heart of China.

The adventures will play out in the shadows of a sacred mountain on the shores of a remote lake in a land known for tigers, pandas, snow leopards and ancient traditions.

A new group of castaways will battle each other, and the elements to Outwit, Outplay, Outlast.

We hope you sleep better tonight.

Thanks, Louise!

great, this will end my insomnia... Thanks god!

By the way, in Survivors web, They paint China in dark green, and some areas in light green (Japan, Mongolia, Spratly islands). What's that? A Pan-China conspiration?

  • thanks

well, if this really is the SURVIVOR: CHINA logo then chalk another one up for americans knowing shit about china. and please no retorts about chinese not knowing shit about americans cause it's pretty universal.

dan is right. just need some nunchucks, pandas, and old men with long beards and canes to top it off.
