I dont think Apple will bother, this phone is a good phone but not an I-PHONE. As for the i-pod knock offs it really is a no brainer, yes they are cheap, no they do not have access to the ipod accessories, they look cheap and will not offer the same quality. None of my Chinese friends have one they all own the real thing: an ipod. As for Apple products here in China there are plenty of people selling the real deal and many of them offer a very good service that Apple would be proud of. Just never buy an Apple product on show at a seller of everything, go to an outlet that only has Apple products, and in all honesty here in Shanghai the knowledge of many locals outlets is better than that of Shanghai "Best buy"
After emigrating to China all of my Apple products have been purchased locally. All of them have original packing and are registered with Apple with no problems. The Apple software with the items is the original and not copied, only downside to purchasing here is that the prices are quite high.

Probably a while, considering how many iPod clones there are out there in Chinese markets.
