Today's Links: Death by scissors, inflation, and 1001 Chinese

• Woman strangled and stabbed. A native of Hubei Province was charged with murder yesterday after Minhang District prosecutors allege Tian Qi, 27, strangled a woman with wire and then stabbed her with scissors because she refused to lend him money.
• Publicity toilet paper set to wipe out theft in Taipei. In a bid to deter roll bandits, the toilet paper would be sponsored by advertisers who will allow their names to be smeared for the public good.
• Discrimination widespread in job market. The survey showed that discrimination is common in government departments, with gender, registered residence origin, height and appearance being the four criteria most frequently cited.
• Artist makes 1,001 Chinese his German art show entry. A Chinese artist will bring 1,001 of his compatriots to Germany to spend months wandering around the city of Kassel as live-exhibits for his entry to a leading modern art show. Ai WeiWei's "Fairytale" artwork will cost 3.1 million euros ($4.14 million, or about $4,136 per person).
• Sharon Stone Arrives In Shanghai. American actress Sharon Stone arrived in Shanghai on Tuesday evening for the upcoming 10th Shanghai International Film Festival to open this Saturday.
• Made-in-China trains will debut on Metro Line 9. Shanghai will use subway trains that are made in China by a Chinese-owned company for the first time on Metro Line 9, which is set to open by the end of this year, subway officials announced yesterday.
• China's inflation hits 27-month high as food prices skyrocket. Surging food prices boosted China's annual consumer price inflation in May to a 27-month high, extending a rising trend and reinforcing expectations that interest rates will go up further.
• Beijing Olympics company admits child labour. The manager of the Lekit Stationery factory, in Dongguan city, had initially flatly denied the allegation when the BBC visited the factory on Sunday, saying employing children would not be worth the risk.
• Shanghai plans 20b yuan fund for expansion. The Shanghai government plans to launch a fund of as much as 20 billion yuan to develop the city's economy and infrastructure before it hosts the World Expo in 2010.
• Shanghai Plans Underground Park. With heavy metro construction planned for the next few years, Shanghai is looking to expand its current urban underground network immensely (10 million sq m/107 million sq ft by 2010).
• Chinese investors back stock market. China's prodigious savers pulled more money out of bank deposits last month than ever, with most of it thought to be flowing into the booming stock market, according to the People's Bank of China.
• Shanghai Market Gets Most Of Drop Back In Seven Days. The Shanghai Composite (SSEC) 4,335 in late May to 3,670 on June 4. It did not seem to matter much. In overnight trading, the composite closed at 4,176, up 14% in seven trading days.
• 3 nabbed in insider trading case. Three people have been arrested by police in Zhejiang Province for their alleged role in an insider trading case, considered the biggest scandal
  to embroil a listed company this year.
