Yes, we broke our own record suckers!

Not content with what was already the world's longest sea bridge, Donghai Bridge, Shanghai's built yet another bridge, the 36-km long Hangzhou Bay Bridge, which starts at Jiaxing, near Shanghai, and ends at Cixi, about 70 kilometers from Ningbo in Zhejiang Province.

The ever-authoritative Shanghai Daily assures us that the concrete-and-steel bridge was:

Built to withstand typhoons that hit the eastern seaboard, as well as shifting soil conditions...

Hell, we would not want to be caught dead on the bridge during the typhoon season (not unless we have this ”world's fastest amphibious car" that is. No wait, a submarine would be safer!) The bridge might still be left standing after the typhoon but who knows where the car will end up? We remember with what force the last typhoon hit our 19th storey southeast-facing apartment, almost shattering our windows and flooding two of our rooms. Not our idea of fun.

Anybody wanna take a bet when we will build the next world's longest bridge? Yet again?
