Millionaire stabbed to death while saving girl from robbers

A 17year old girl in Xi'an was robbed on her way home. Her three assailants were stopped by a courageous passer-by who then subsequently stabbed him to death before fleeing away. Well, it turns out that the dead hero is a Jiangsu entrepreneur and millionaire who used to give frequently to charity. You can see in the video how the understandably distraught girl was asking to see the man one last time after the police pronounced him dead and covered him up. So should he have saved the girl? Did he die in vain? Netizens are divided it seems. Said one commenter on 56.com:

F*ck, what a fool. Were you not asking for death? Why help at all? Who would die if you didn't die? Who told you to mind other people's business? And you're a millionaire! Think of all your money earned in vain, and now you won't have an opportunity to enjoy a single cent. China has too many people, so what if one person is killed, or two for that matter. Isn't it all too common? I support you brother in what you said. All you pieces of sh*t below don't know what you'r e talking about. If we were to catch a criminal and hit him, you'd see it's all too cruel. Our society today is too pragmatic. All you pieces of sh*t below, I ask you. If it were you present at the scene, would you really have stepped out to save the girl?

  • What a sad story, but that guy from 56.com really needs to see a doctor...

    Re: 12:

Yes, minus "Chinese". I think that all businessmen are sleazy until proven otherwise. :p

I also don't sign up, because I don't like having to register for sites in order to comment unless they are message boards. Sorry Shanghaiist.

I don't understand why this heroic story has elicited some negative comments on this board.

What people talk about anonymously on internet board is usually BS (check all the brainless comments on US online discussion groups).

What is real about this story is some (rich) guy sacrificed his life to save a girl.

The hero has a 16 year old daughter. See more on this in the following site:

Do not stereotype people. We see a true Chiense hero here. There are good people and bad people in every country.

Let me ask you a question. If you happen to be introduced to this millionaire, would you say to yourself "Just another sleazy Chinese businessman?"

In a perfect world, we all would be as brave as the hero mentioned above and do something as courageous as he has done. But in this world I just wish cowards would at leasat just shut up and pray that nobody will ever recognize you gutless

Oh and ask any young Chinese, they still expect that last stage of socialism to come...phewls

    Guess

you sound like our old friend, kebab boy (Quote from Peking duck)

5000 years of glorious history and this is the result. What is even worse is that as a whole, wealthy chinese have a reputation of not giving to charity at all. Well, we found one guy that does, and now he is dead.

What a worthless country, and all we get from China is toxic food and shoddy goods. Kissenger should fall in his sword for even suggesting opening talks with china.

Comments like that made by the armchair commanders who take a smoke break between hours of WoW at the local WangBa and log-on to news sites to impart their share of morality on the rest of society.

Funny how I remember a similar answer to a question I once asked a Chinese person about the Aids problem: "China already has enough people"

In all fairness he was a bit outnumbered, and if you've ever seen a straight up Chinese street fight it consists of random arms spasms and neck grabbing, so I don't think there was much of a chance.

Factually speaking, China has less community spirit and care for a neighbour and selflessness than in western countries.

However, if this man had a child then that would mean an element of stupidity, but of course in that exact moment he proved he was courageous.

Innocent people trying to help others do sometimes pay for it with their own life. This is what deters other people from then helping others. If thought about, no one would rather they die and their family suffer so that a stranger can live.

"So should he have saved the girl? Did he die in vain?"

What kind of society even has to ask such stupid questions ?!?!? Obviously a society composed of, stupid and ignorant and selfish people.

How can one be said to have died in vain when attempting rescue or to save one's life ???

A whole society mimicking emotions and morales and totally blinded by moneey and power... Pathetic...

I fear the true visage of China is quite sad and a shame for the human kind.

  • guest

it's people like the arsemuppet that wrote that comment that really show some of chinas true colours. yeah we westerners joke around about how china is so shallow and selfish, but this arrogant douche really wants to prove it.

  • guest

    Heartwarming stuff.

Chinese "netizens are divided it seems"? Really? If that's so, and I hope it's not, I guess those same netizens can stop asking themselves how the Shanxi slave scandal could have happened. Morally vacant and corrupt societies with no regard for each other or human dignity should really expect that kind of thing.
