Definitely, let's even celebrate Aug 29, the day that China and Britain signed Nan Jing Treaty to separate Hong Kong from China. Why not let China and Britain start talk of surrendering western China to Britain because, see how developed Hongkong has become.

Hongkong was a colony of Britain until late 20th century. While we mainlander should imitate the rule of law, free market system, and efficient governance of Hongkong, it still is a shame that it was occupied.

"Democracy" does not belong to the westerners. It is a transition coupled with prosperous and stable society. Iraq is a perfect example.

Anyone notice the trend of "Chairman Hu" regularly sporting Mao suits instead of his usual attire?

". A survey by the University of Hong Kong showed that 55 per cent of the respondents identified themselves as 'Hong Kong citizens' or 'Chinese Hong Kong citizens.'"

And many of them have Canadian passports to boot.

ah, yes, the brilliant commies. They didn't fck-up what the British built yet, and they've claimed credit for it.

Has anyone else noticed that the official celebrations in no way credit the British for building most modern, prosperous city in China, instituting rule of law, effective governance and free markets? As usual, it's just commies jerking each other off.
