We found this really odd ad in the latest issue of the SH magazine, and apparently it has been there for some time already. Well it looks like Windows Tembo at 66 Shanxi Bei Lu has been offering RMB30 open bars every Thursday. Can someone enlighten us please -- how on earth can bars offer RMB30 drink-all-you-can and actually make a profit? Has any Shanghaiist been there before? If anyone has been there and NOT had a hangover the next day, tell us please cos that is where you will find the entire Shanghaiist team this Thursday!

It's true
The beer is out-of-date.
The thing is true. You go there, pay 30RMB, get a stamp on your arm, and PARTY TIME! Barmen are not nice, one serves beer and nothing else (by the way only Budweiser, the other three on the All you can drink list were ran out), and you have to fight to get a very tiny gin tonic, but he, what do you expect for 30 RMB? Also you don't get a new drink unless you show an empty glass to prove you finished the old one. They actually take that seriously and will give you back your beer with two remaining drops in it until you REALLY finish it.
Otherwise, the bar is full of drunk students and sexy young expat girls doing lascive moves on the dancefloor. It just that I felt 1,000 years old when I heard them talking about their Grade A exam!
PS: and yes, you do get a serious headache the next day. Quite certain the gin is not genuine.
Yeah, the last guy has it right. It's hard to complain for 30 kuai but the barstaff really are ignorant and rude. I hope they all get fired. Clientele are basically local international high school kids down to about 14 years old and a few older cheapskates like me. I reckon the bar makes a loss on everyone who walks in the door; their rudeness has made me resolve to never go any other night so as to make their loss leader idea simply a loss. That'll show 'em!
Hmm, it seems to be easier to complain for 30 kuai than I thought.
Obnoxious/annoying American students and being forced to finish dregs. Wonderful.
