Last Chance For Youth, Di Maggio and another week in music

Taking a week off, Shanghaiist has been in Los Angeles where rumors are flying that 2 hot L.A. acts (Rocket and Busdriver) will be headed our way this fall (contracts have been signed...shhh!). Also confirmed to play 4Live September 16th are punk rock legends the Exploited! Gotta love the gossip, now here is what's on this weekend in live music (that we like).

Norwegians rejoice! Blind Stereo an electronic pop noise band plays at the Dream Factory on Friday. Definitely a band worth seeing. In typical fashion 4Live will rock Friday, what is less clear is what bands will actually be playing. Last Chance of Youth (Beijing hardcore punkers) and Muscle Snog were originally slated to perform but according to various other blogs the 45 band and Crazy Mushroom will be there to rip things up. Either way it should be a good show. Secret Backyard, Guangzhou folk artists, will also be in town playing at Live bar on the same night.

On Saturday, Live bar (that place out in the boondocks) will be the place to mosh with Beijing head bangers Shi Jiao Ri, a band any metal fan should see. While at 021 Bar 10 new Shanghai bands will strut their awkward stuff, giving you a chance to catch the next (not that there has ever been a first) big thing on the Shanghai music scene.

Sunday has a bevy of choices for those of you who are tired of sitting on your lazy asses in air conditioned living rooms. Get it Louder will hold a clinic hosted by dj's B6, Nara, Sulumi, iloop and Dead J in the ENO shop at 6pm. Any of you who missed the Di Maggio Connection at JZ make sure not to miss them play at 288 - the Melting Pot this Sunday. Rockabilly at it's finest, Marco Di Maggio is considered one of the genre's best guitar players. What a fine weekend for live music and a chance to kick back slug a few cold (extra) ones in air conditioned (hahaha) venues.
