This Beijing-Shanghai Hongqiao project is absolutely crap. It is only a government act to showcase "how much CAAC has done to 'improve' the development of China's aviation industry" while there is no foreseeable benefits whatsoever. I flew on several of those so-called express flights, no time-savings at all.

With this new Beijing-Shanghai express flight service, all it brings to the public is more expensive tickets between Beijing and Hongqiao and very few real conveniences at the cost of passengers on other routes (according to Chinese media, Beijing-Hongqiao express flights receive priorities on the already very limited airspace, air traffic control and other airport resources). CAAC needs to correct the situation by changing everything back to the old way and must act ASAP!!!

Consumer prices across the board are increasing considerably due to consistently higher fuel costs, food costs and labor costs. And Beijing used to subsidize food and fuel consumption until recently.

Check out this recent pronouncement by Wen Jiabao on price-fixing -- although he's talking about food prices. To be fair to the fast-food folks, though, grain, chicken and pork prices are going through the roof for now, although regular service is supposed to resume in the not too distant future.
