15 month old female toddler experiences precocious puberty

A female toddler that has experienced swelling of the breasts and menstruation at 15 months of age has been cited by doctors at the Nanjiing Children's Hospital as an extreme example of the rise in the number of cases of precocious puberty all across China.

One parent who always thought her 3 year old daughter, who at 1.4 metres tall, was just growing faster than her peers, but one day, she was surprised to find her daughter's breasts swelling and the girl was complaining of a pain in her belly. Doctors found that the parent was giving the girl too many calcium tablets which caused the girl's bone structure to grow very fast. Parents of the 15 month old girl cited above were also found to be feeding their daughter calcium for about six months.

Precocious puberty is defined by the Nanjing Children's Hospital as sexual maturation before age 8 for girls and age 10 for boys, and can be a very difficult time for the child not just physically but also emotionally and socially. The hospital sees about 40 to 50 such cases daily, and has seen over 3,000 cases in just the months of July and August to date.

Precocious puberty, a growing problem around the world, is a newly emerging pattern in China.

Did I misunderstand, or near the end, did the news report say that one factor of early pubescence is watching too much television (being under the light of a television)?

Of course Chinese children is growing faster because China is growing the fastest! Soon all the tall foreigners gonna be looking up to tall Chinese because we are growing on top of you and you cannot keep up with the Chinese because like before we are again the best!

In the 1900s Chinese was very small but you can see that everyday Chinese people getting taller and stronger just like these childrean. And maybe westerners media want to talk this story and make it a bad thing about China because they are afraid that Chinese gonna be the tallest, Chinese gonna be the best. But this is some fight they gonna lose because we are marking again and not gonna listen to outsiders rubbish and lies!!!

Already the worlds tallest man is Chinese and the worlds best basketballer is also Chinese so why can't most of the Chinese be very tall and look at the foreigner straight to the eyes? This is just your jelousy blinding your eyes! But for sure we gonna be looking down at you from the #1 platform at 2008 Olympic games so better get ready for that!!!

Isn't the world's tallest man from Ukraine? Anyway, I can't tell if you are serious or just crazy like a fox

@ #2:

China is "developing" into a country of crazy mutant freaks.

i think the reporter meant the intense radiation that's been emitted by TV and Computers, could be one of the many causes, also unheathly diet, unheathly life-style combine with other elements could also cause that.

second floor

lol, i seriously think you need some BIG help !! :D

oh, nanheyangrouchuan, in case you haven't noticed, which i highly doubt that you've notices at all, you are a already fully developed mutant freak, that's why when you see others are experiencing what you've already came out as, you go into a state of shock !!!

which i have to say, it is kind of funny.

btw, nanheyangrouchuan

let's pretend those 12 or 14 yr olds supermodles do not exist. 12, 14, they are at 5'11, 5'9 at least, i suppse that's just 'good' genes ? oh i forgot, they are a bunch crazy mutant freaks born that way just like you.

Chinese reporters quoting Chinese science, a match made in heaven. And how convenient that the western lifestyle is the root cause of these problems.

Couldn't be the more established research in the US and EU that shows animal growth hormones used on farms and industrial pollutants mimicking human growth hormones are the more likely cause, because there are plenty of younger girls and boys "blossoming" earlier than other generations.

But only China would consider such "blossoming" to the mark of evolution of a master race.
Answer this usagi, if a 12 year old looks 20, how will they look at 20? 40?
Those "tallest people in the world" don't have super human strength, they can't leap buildings or stop bullets, they have serious physical ailments.
So there will be no "super PLA" of 9 foot muscular giants.

Everyone knows that at 20, they will be 40 feet tall and wear size 64 playboys designed to crush imperialist devils. And everyone knows this is a good thing.

Come on, Guest #2 is obviously not really Chinese.

12 year old 5'11" models? Maybe I went to the wrong junior high school..

Tim Duncan is Chinese?*

(I love Yao. A lot. But anyone with two eyes can see he's MAYBE a top 10 player, and more likely a top 15 player.)

*Or Tim Duncan. Kobe Bryant. Dwyane Wade. McGrady. Garnett...

if you are worried about how they will look at 40

that's why there is botox, baby, and that's what this multi-billion dollar business is all about

btw, how does models compare with tallest people in the world ?

who cares ?

#2, that's the worst troll attempt I've seen in a while. If you're Chinese, I'll eat my hat.
