Napalm Death, Busdriver and Yacht

Another week, another round of rumors floating around. Looks like the Busdriver show is going to happen and is scheduled for October 13th at 4Live. What makes it even more exciting is the fact that Yacht, Portland DJ extraordinaire, might be opening for him. Yacht is currently on tour with Architecture in Helsinki and in the past has toured with LCD Soundsystem. Seeing both him and Busdriver on the same stage makes us wet our pants a little each time we think about it.

Napalm Death a fairly well known hardcore/grindcore band from England is rumored to be making a stop in Shanghai during their Asia tour in September. Shanghaiist is still trying to track down the location, since 4Live is hosting the popular Bananas party on the night in question.

Looks like (at least for the next few months) that the Shanghai live music scene is still far from dead.

I love the smell of Napalm Death in the morning.

In fairness, Mr. Abe Deyo, I had no idea you had a blog, and I've really appreciated your updates on the music scene - very helpful, and much better than what Shanghaiist had before.

But I still think the Shanghai music scene is dead.

Yeah, Subs this weekend...and last weekend AK-47, BrainFailure and Top Floor Circus all in one show. Yuyintang has found a new location, nice little bar in a better location than before. Definetly the foreign bands are not the only bands of interest, but local bands have always been around, and always will be. The fact that China is finally able to support touring bands from other countries (without them or the organizer losing an arme'n'leg) is a true sign of how the music scene is doing.

Will be doing more mini-profiles of local bands to hopefully gain them some exposure....hahaha...too bad there is only about 5 people who read my blogs!..hahaaha

    Thanks to you 5!

I repeat *SUBS* (from *Beijing*) at 4Live this weekend. And Cold Fairyland at the Shanghai Concert Hall next month. And SmartShanghai says that Yuyintang has found a new place. So no, not exactly dead.

And anyways, to paraphrase a certain famous philosopher, I would not join any scene that would have me as a member.

Well, the Shanghai music scene is dead, in the sense that the only bands of interest are visiting from other countries.

SUBS at 4Live this weekend! Yeah!
