Shanghai October Music Festival news
September is quickly sliding into history, which means for all us music fans that the orgy of music festivals Shanghai will experience in the first weeks of October is almost upon us. And of course Shanghaiist is here to bring you the latest in festival news.....
The 1234 Beach Rock Festival - A scrappy fighter always getting knocked down but never going out for the count (did that make sense?). Postponed once again, it is being scheduled for October 20-21st out in Pudong. Line up and ticket prices have yet to be confirmed, but expect plenty of punk and metal bands.
The Yue Festival - Shanghai's first major festival featuring big name, international musicians keeps adding to already impressive line up. With Talib Kweli, Ozomatli and Faithless as the headliners, Yacht (former member of the Blow) making an appearance on the DJ stage and a solid line up of local bands that include Super VC, Hedgehog and Kazakh musician I Z. Some people might be moaning at the ticket prices (140rmb-students, 280rmb-in advance and 360rmb-at the gate) but considering the massive lineup expect to get a lot of bang (non-sexual) for your buck. Look for things to start around noon and go late into the night.
Fuxing Park Jazz Festival - We haven't heard much more about this one and after calling the organizer she didn't really seem interested in talking about it (maybe it was my voice). Still hoping it’s on and scheduled for October 5th-7th. If anyone has more information on ticket prices and confirmed lineup then let us know. Otherwise we will assume that Cui Jian, Xu Wei and plenty of European Jazz bands are going to swarm Fuxing Park.
Rock-ing Festival - This is for all those metal fans out there. Hair bands, Negative and Malice in Wonderland are in town October 3rd. Joining them will be non-metal bands Yuguo and Cold Fairyland. Also in Zhong Shan Park tickets for this start at 380rmb and go up to 880rmb for those who want to feel like real VIPs. Show starts at 5:30pm and will go late.
Lets also not forget that Italian metal band Vision Divine will be playing at 4Live October 5th and LA rap master, Busdriver will be in town on October 13th, also at 4Live.
Oh and a quick apology...seems our brain was unable to comprehend the 3pm start for Napalm Death and forced us to subconsciously list it as being 10pm. Sorry for any one who showed up at 10pm ready to rock out and instead got hit with some heavy techno.

A date for the Yue Festival in the blurb would better inform your readers.
