Keanu Reeves sighting at Yu Yuan

keanureeves6.jpgKeanu Reeves was spotted on Friday at the Yuyuan Gardens at some Chinese restaurant enjoying his Shanghai dumplings (does anyone know which restaurant that is, sure doesn't look like Nanxiang to us?)

Anyhow, the young gentleman on Reeves' left is martial arts expert Chen Hu (陈虎) who worked together with him on The Matrix, and then went on to make a name for himself in Kill Bill. We're not sure who's on his right. Apart from that, Reeves appeared to be travelling alone and without bodyguards, but yes, with a martial arts expert by your side, you probably don't need one anyway.

And with no movie slated for 2007, Reeves would have lots of time to be travelling around Shanghai alone eating dumplings, although he does appear to be working on a movie called The Day The Earth Stood Still which will be a remake of the 1951 classic sci-fi film.

He looked a little bored waiting for his yummy dumplings! hee hee...

He first fills his own glass, and only then the other person (who is waiting with the glass in his hand). That's not very polite in China, Keanu!

Maybe that other guy is Keanu's rent boy!

Keanu is filling the glass and then the guest takes it. He's very poilte and well mannered, British mum and Canadian upbringing.

seen in the garages at the F1 also

I know....

DUMPLINGS.

Being famous must suck ass, especially when you can't do anything without some idiot taking pictures of you doing mundane things like ordering dinner.

I'm with the last commenter. Isn't it enough to just say, "Aw, cool, Keanu Reeves," and move on. Why the need to make a natty spectacle of yourself clicking photos with your sorry-ass phone cam? Get a f**** life.

At least he is drinking Qingdao beer.

A true gent!

His face is just like mine when I get stared at.

Sure it must be annoying for him but he is a multi-multi-millionaire world famous actor!!!

I am a fucking nobody and still I get stared at for doing mundane things!!!

Yeah, another example of the deteriorating state of Shanghaiist. And soon they want to eliminated guest comments because they are too thin-skinned to take criticism like this.

I mean, one picture is fine, but this amateur paparazzi cameraphone stuff is like a Perez Hilton with even less cojones than he has...

I love the one in the middle:

It's kind of like, "Yeah, you zoomed in A##hole, now you got your shot, can you leave me alone?" But civil, in a nice way. Much more classy than whoever took the photos and the third rate editor that ran it.

I know kung fu.

Commenter 11, Why would posting a non-guest comment prohibit you from airing your biting criticism on the pages of Shanghaiist?

morpheus?

Wow Keanu, drinks a beer with freinds and has some chinese food! SHOCKING!

I saw Keanu in the lobby of Jinmao Building (ground floor) on Saturday evening, Oct 6th. I was getting out of the lift, and he was getting in. I recognized him immediately, but apparently nobody else did. Then I thought I was wrong until... today, when I found out he was indeed in the city. I wonder who we are going to run across next time, this city can really surprise you at times...
