Extra! Extra! Chick Corea, sneaky billionaires and Yu Garden in Hamburg

extra1011.jpg

  • So we didn't make it out to Chick Corea's concert last Saturday, but someone else in Shanghai did and he even wrote a review. Turns out the concert wasn't all that well-attended.

  • And if you haven't heard it by now, yes, China now officially has 106 billionaires, up from just 15 last year! And apparently, there may be more. Rupert Hoogewerf, founder of the Hurun Report estimates there may be 200 billionaires. Not everyone has been identified because not everyone declares all their asserts.

  • Just what Shanghai needs, yet another skyscraper. Currently, Shanghai Shimao International Plaza is the tallest building in Puxi, but that record will be smashed when the 278meter tall Wheelock Square tops out next year on Yan'an Road opposite the Equatorial Hotel in Jing'an District.

  • Fancy visiting the Yu Garden in Germany? That will soon be a possibility because a replica will be built in Hamburg by the end of next year, complete with the Bridge of Nine Turns, traditional Chinese performances, teas and dim sum. Looks like these are the days of global tourism indeed. Who said you needed to fly five thousand miles to see China?
