As a Montrealer and a regular reader of Josh Freed's column on Montreal gazette, I think Josh is a funny guy but not the best candidate to make a serious, objective and credible documentary.

Two days ago, on Montreal Radio 940 he talked about how his film is the first western documentary on China's sex revolution and has been picked up by quite a few western TV networks. so maybe that's the goal of making this documentary.

So folks please don't take the documentary too seriously, watch it as pure entertainment.

If anyone wants to engage in further debate with Josh, he has a web site:

As a Canadian, I’m sorry for this.

I feel the CBC is trying to sensationalize a segment in hopes of gaining some relevance. I’m really embarrassed by this report. The CBC does not reflect Canada’s national sentiment regarding China and I can only hope it has less and less influence shaping it.

In my opinion the gluttony going on in Fort McMurray Alberta (the heart of oil boom) is far worse than anything happening in Shanghai or Beijing. But since that area is the underbelly of the oil boom driving the Canadian currency, the CBC will likely steer clear of an expose. (although it may have done one, I’m kind of out of the loop since I’m living here in Shangahai)

I don’t mean to downplay all the rub and tugs here, but culturally, what about all the internet porn traffic etc. As for clubs I’ve seen nothing here that I didn’t see in a club in Canada. This CBC report is sensationalist garbage.
