Shanghai's Hilton hotel not good enough for Paris

hiltonparis1121.jpgEx-convict/drunk driver/pornstar Heiress/socialite/singer/designer Paris Hilton — fresh from her modelling gig with Fila Sportswear in Seoul — is now in Shanghai for the first time to attend Friday's 2007 MTV Awards and Style Gala at the Shanghai Grand Stage. Apparently, she didn't think the Hilton hotel would make her feel at home here, so she decided to check into the Grand Hyatt at the Jinmao instead. Shanghai Daily, believe it or not, has the scoop:

"The panoramic Bund view from the hotel room seemed the major reason to attract her there," said an employee of MTV China, who asked not to be named. "Hilton hopes to gain a better understanding of the city's landmark charm within a limited time."

Hilton has already booked three sets of evening dresses from Xintiandi's Shanghai Tang for the gala, including a traditional qipao.

Officials from MTV China suggested she might put on a mini fashion show.

During her stay, which ends this weekend, Hilton will also visit the Shanghai Museum and Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

The Shanghai Morning Post's angle (I don't usually read articles about Paris Hilton, I swear) was that people waiting for relatives at the airport exit had no idea who Paris Hilton was — understandable -- and that her impression of the airport is that it's "beautiful" — sounds like standard star-speak rather than an honest appraisal. What struck me most from the article is that she brought along an entourage of 1 bodyguard, 1 manager, 1 pro photographer, 2 personal assistants and 17 pieces of luggage.

Well if the Grand Hyatt doesn't cut it, i have a decent guest room near Century Park. But not enough space for all the luggage or extra personnel.

We in America are glad to be rid of her. She's finally out of our press. Please keep her!
