Interesting statement.  It shows the naive nature of Westerners in China.  Perfect summary of Western legal theory, but not really applicable in China.  Detention laws are much different here, there is a massive gray area where you are not free nor under arrest.  Foreigners beware, you can be held against your will for no reason.  Most of the time it just takes hours and hours of talking and even haggling and then you&apos;re released.  If you&apos;ve got a camera and are talking to locals, good luck, you&apos;re asking for trouble from local &apos;officials.&apos;  It&apos;s still scary here sometimes.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
