Explosion at Pudong gas station

This morning at 7.50am, an explosion occurred at a China Petroleum gas station located on the cross junction of Yanggao Nanlu and Pusan Lu (杨高南路、浦三路口) in Pudong. Two died on the spot, two died on the way to hospital, two remain seriously injured, and many more are injured. As a result of the blast, a metal tank was displaced 50 meters, the cars that were parked nearby were damaged, and glass windows in several neighbouring office and residential apartments were shattered. Was any Shanghaiist in the neighbourhood?

Maybe chinese drivers will start turning their cars off when they refuel.

The station was closed and under renovation and the "metal tank" looked like a 50 gallon drum in the video. Three workers and an unlucky guy who was riding by on a bike were killed with several injured according to the newspaper. Many injured sounds much more titillating though.

Turns out there were 32 injured and the dead were 2 repair workers and two passersby. An underground tank exploded when it was "over-pressurized" whatever that means...
