Alec, everyone is brainwashed to some extent by their culture or their government. so, there is no point to argue on it. of course, there is someone who has not been brainwashed -- the God:-) To maintain a harmony bilateral relation is about respect. Has China government ever commented on german's government policy? the answer is no. We have even read lots stories of German's aids to China during 2nd world war. As a national symbol, a top leader, there is a bit different from a home girl who can freely says: I want to have my icecream when I want and where I want.

Susan, you are wrong. Flat out 100% wrong. You have been brainwashed, congratulations. Tibet has been part of China for 50 years, since Mao sent the troops in. It was never a part of China before that. Go outside your state-sanctioned textbooks for history.

The only long history of relations between China and Tibet is one of lies and forged parchments by the CCP showing this and that country belong to China. China/Geidi Prime = greedy junkyard, so it must conquer other nations and suck their resources.

First, the history of Tibet a part of China is longer than that of California a part of USA. Secondly, let us assmue if Chinese PM friendly, openly and delightfully meet with Iraq's top leader, talking about spiritual value etc, what would be the respond of USA??? The situation is like you had a very close friend who you trusted fully. Suddenly, this friend starts to support an issue you are totally against. And the worst is that close friend ignored your reminder/warning, and heartedly embraced your enemy. It is a betray! What will be your feeling? and what are you going to do? to pretend nothing has happened? China will not treat USA the same way as he did to German, because China has never considered USA to be a close friend.

Right. Brainwashed Westerners. I suppose England has been relocating English folk from York to Scotland in a thinly veiled attempt to breed the Scottish into a minority in their own country. I suppose also that England insists on choosing Scotland's ministers, and bans Scottish religious leaders from entering Scotland. The brutal occupation of the plateau for the last 50 years has the end goal of eliminating a vibrant ancient culture and replacing it with the Han. The issue IS about territorial integrity. It is about invasion, and occupation, and the strong swallowing the weak. It is what has happened countless times throughout history, but while much of the rest of the world has moved on and matured, China is still caught in a vicious pre-modern cycle. Did America do the same thing to the Native Americans? Yes. Did England do the same thing to the Scottish? Yes. Fifty, sixty, seven hundred years ago. The current American administration is a throwback to this kind of mentality, but even still the crimes pale in comparison. Has America banned Shiite Islam? Have we depopulated Baghdad and replaced Iraqis with poor Americans? If the Tibetans had mounted a resistance similar to what Al Qaeda and the fundamentalists have done in Iraq China would have absolutely obliterated Lhasa and sown the plateau with salt. I think what American has done in Iraq is reprehensible. But what China has done is worse, because they are not only occupying and exploiting a country they have no territorial claim to, but wiping their culture and race from the history books so that in a few hundreds years they can claim that the plateau as Han, and no-one could ever dispute it.

Who is "doormat"? Does Merkel dare to criticize US of bringing to direct or indirect death to Iraqis? There are about one million Iraqis killed as a result of US invasion. Is it not human right issue? Is it not more important than freedom of speech, for example? Has Merkel said anything about that? no!! And Dalai Lama issue is NOT about human right. It's about China's territorial integrity.I don't think any countries would like to see their country dismembered. Ask Canadian about Quebec.Ask British about Scotland.Don't put on air and point your fingers to China. And the last.
