For all of those of you who stayed at home, hunched over the computer, waiting for an update on the happenings in live music this weekend....well, we apologize. Dust yourself off, pick up the shaver and take a shower, today is a big day for music. Getting things started early, 4:30pm at 4Live, are Taiwan indie pop duo, Natural Q. Seems to be the season for indie pop, after performances last month by Carrchy and Pixel Toy. Later in the evening Latin folk/electronic group, Apenino will be performing at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center and at the old Rojam, DJ Nu-Mark w/ Coldcut will be putting on a performance as part of the HP Art in Motion series. Register online to get in for free. At live bar, Mortal Fools, Kidney Stone, Dropkick and others will be celebrating everything loud (the Cold Fairyland show has been moved to the 21st).
A couple of shows Shanghaiist has been resting up for are the two that PK-14 will be putting on tonight. If you want to see a good post-punk band that sings in Chinese (some foreigners seem to be afraid of the language) then head to either their early show at Yuyintang (8:30pm) to celebrate their dvd release or the late show at 4Live, where they will be supported by 21 grams, Boys Climbing Ropes and the STD DJ crew. If for some insane reason you miss this band today, then catch them tomorrow at Bon Bon where they will be doing a final show.
(PK-14 video, love it for rocking out despite the cheap production budget)
