If you have been reading Shanghaiist for a while now, you will realise that a major focus of our work is to bring to the attention of the English-language reader stuff that is happening on the Chinese Internet. Some time ago, we told you about how the Chinese internet rarely links to foreign websites. In fact, only six percent of the Chinese Internet’s hyperlinks leave China’s webspace. Like it or not, the Chinese Internet will become the largest segment of the Internet very soon, and we think there is a great need to bridge the huge chasm between it and the rest of the web.
So we were pretty heartened to find out from Cup of Cha that at least some Chinese people are reading English-language China blogs. Here's what one netizen thinks about some of them, including this blog:
Virtual Review 这里收集了很多老外英文的blog，外国媒体，中国媒体，还有社会媒体的链接哦。如果你只是想看老外的blog，在display option(就是在日历的下面）勾上blog就可以了，不过我觉得blog里的文章不是最吸引我的，我比较喜欢看后面的comments,像在逛论坛帖子一样。以下是我经常看的，当然有一些是对中国很不友好了, 像这个nanheyangrouchuan 和sunbin(这两个经常在后面的评论里出现，sunbin 有自己的blog,另一个没有找到。不过我怀疑nanheyangrouchuan是中国人，因为他很像天涯里的jy ...^_^哈哈） This website presents a collection of many English blogs that laowai's read, and links to foreign media, Chinese media and social news media. If you only want to see the laowai blogs, just click on the list of options under the calendar. The blog articles listed here are not too interesting though and I prefer reading the comments found after each post. Of course, many commenters aren't very friendly towards China, especially a certain "nanheyangrouchuan" and "sunbin" (these two frequently appear in the comment section and "sunbin" even has his own blog, but I wasn't able to find the blog written by the other guy. However I suspect nanheyangrouchuan is Chinese, because he is very similar to "jy" in Tianya... ^_^ hahaDanwei
这个老外中文N牛，把中国各大报纸的头版全翻译成英文以便其他不懂中文的老外阅读，介绍一些政府机构或是公司招聘老外的工作广告给其他老外，包括 cctv里要邀请一些外国嘉宾的信息，比如幸运52，和非常6+1。。当然他也在中国各大论坛里潜水，天涯八卦是他经常去的地方，上次天涯八卦里狂哈温宝宝和胡哥的帖子也被翻译了^_^哈哈,
This laowai's Chinese is kickass. He translates everything from all the Chinese media into English so the laowais can understand. He also puts up job ads for government organisations or companies that are hiring laowais, and also news on foreigners on CCTV programs like Lucky 52 and Very 6+1. He also goes to Chinese forums quite a bit, including the gossip segments on Tianya. He even translated the Wen Baobao / Hu Ge thread... ^_^ hahaLost Laowai

Huh? Not too friendly to China? We wonder how this guy came to that conclusion. Maybe he thinks we've put up too much "bad" news. But we're also wondering if Nanheyangrouchuan would agree with his assessment?

In fact, we may concern about Taiwan issue, but never ever about Tibet. Tibet is one part of China undoubtedly. This is not even a question. The statement above make me feel disgusting. and I think it applys to most of chinese netizens.
Bad news, as long as it's the truth, we will applaud.

Bad China will lose its illegal, inhumane death grip on Tibet one day, probably after the PLA gets buried in the Taiwan Strait.
Actually, Hisky, although I am accustomed to your ignorant type of generalizations, I don't give a hoot about Tibet or Taiwan and their status. Never have, never will. I'm sure that won't change your belief that all laowai are the same. And I don't believe you will applaud bad news. Most people I know bristle when an outsider holds a mirror to even the most minor unharmonious parts. My advice: stick to the ongoing ookie-cookie at the China Daily BBS.
