In keeping with his practise of giving new year's predictions, US televangelist and host of The 700 Club on the Christian Broadcasting Network, Pat Robertson has fresh revelation from the Lord concerning 2008:
"What I'm praying about is China. I'm asking for 250 million in China. We haven't had that breakthrough yet but I think we're going to get it. God's going to give us China. And China will be the largest Christian nation on the face of the earth. They're going to come to Jesus."Thanks Pat, tell us something we didn't already know, puh-lease. Hmm... did the Lord by any chance speak to you through this Shanghaiist article, brother?
Among other things Pat predicted this year are: a recession, the price of oil at $150 a barrel, the continued fall of the U.S. dollar and a major stock-market crash in 2009 or 2010. Apparently, God also told him who's gonna win this year's US elections, but he's not telling us! His 2006 prediction of a Pacific Northwestern tsunami and his 2007 prediction of a terror attack both did not come to pass.
Commenting on Chinese abortions in a 2001 interview with Wolf Blitzer, Robertson said the Chinese were just "doing what they have to do", though he did not personally agree with the practice. His comment drew fiery criticism from both ends of the political spectrum.
