Cameltoe Alert at Shanghai Daily

Sania Mirza cameltoe camel toePoor, poor Sania Mirza. The 22 year old Indian tennis starlet (and world number 31 on the current charts) was caught exposing her cleavage — the one below her waist, that is — on Shanghai Daily, of all places. The unflattering picture appeared on page A14 of the sports section in yesterday's paper. Hat tip to Chris St. Cavish of SH Mag, who we presume was flipping through the papers in search of the latest gastronomic delights to write about.

Visit Cameltoe.com for more cameltoes and Cameltoe.org for the history of cameltoes.
If by now you are still clueless as to what a camel-toe is, UrbanDictionary has the definition.
For those of you that are into male camel-toes, Fridae.com has an exposé (pun intended), and here is one hilarious shot.

She's trying to fit in with the locals.

Ummm, I think Shanghaiist should be at a higher intellectual level than to post this. Ok, yes, the headline caught my eye, but, come on. Don't we have better things to comment on?

Titian,

I don't think there is anything wrong with pointing out what we see as a major editorial snafu in the city's only English language daily newspaper -- someone has to keep them honest. Just like there is no problem with you pointing out what you view as a major lapse in editorial judgment on our part in a comment. We welcome the criticism and are happy to publish it.

Now, were the big red arrows necessary? Probably not. I'll have to talk with someone in our "graphics department."

Dan

Dan,
Ok ok, maybe as a woman and sports player, this photo just makes me cringe and I am sensitive. I feel bad for her. Not a very empowering photo. If it was Britney, I swear it would be fine. But it's tennis. Come on!

That's exactly why we pointed it out.

I, for one, am glad to have learned a polite term for "beef curtains" from this article. No more embarrassing slip ups at dinner parties when talk turns to chuffs.

Between this and the "sword fight" posting earlier today it seems like Shanghaiist is becoming 'the' place to go for news about public displays of genitalia. Oh well, it breaks up the magazine bashing that seems to be a major theme lately... Incidentally I agree with Titian, very lowbrow posts both of them.

Firstly, it's not cameltoe, thats her legs - tennis players have wide thighs that come together.

Secondly, Dan, you really make yourself look bad in your reply, and in saying "graphics department", you are making a joke about how this website is indeed amateur. Which is NOT a good thing.

Since when is it "NOT a good thing" to state the truth? My dictionary defines "amateur" like this: "a person who engages in a pursuit ... on an unpaid basis." That is the very definition of Shanghaiist and the generous volunteers who help keep the site going. We have no financial backing. We have no office. We have no fixed staff. We are an ever-changing group of Shanghai residents who, for whatever reason, want to keep our friends and neighbors informed and entertained. That was the primary goal of the site when we started in 2005. And that remains our mission in 2008.

Are we amateurs? Definitely. Do we make mistakes? Of course. Are we more popular and more respected than some other websites that do have paid staffs? You tell me.

So, I am sorry we don't really have a graphics department. If you would like to pay for one, by all means let us know. Maybe they can work out of my kitchen.

Why focus on one Indian athlete when there are countless cases of CT walking around the city in slacks tight enough to cut off blood circulation?

Either the slacks are too tight or the girls are too fat. Either way, someone needs to tell their fathers that "yes, your daughter is the class "camel toe".

"If you would like to pay for one, by all means let us know. Maybe they can work out of my kitchen."

Wait a second, you mean i'm not going to be paid for my comments then?

Thank you for the images, are really curious.
If I get some you the shipment so that you put it in your blog.
That is lovely thanks, that is a nice picture. I wonder if anyone took a close up of it also
