Live Music: Void Techno @ The Shelter, Saturday Night

jason%20hodges.jpgFeeling a little "under the weather" (hah!) from all the snow we're getting? Those rapscallions over at Void have just the answer for you. On Saturday night, they're bringing respected house music veteran Jason Hodges to drop some bombs at The Shelter.

From their web site:

Following their successful mission at The Shelter opening party in December, VOID is back and will bring Canadian house DJ and producer Jason Hodges to the same venue on February 2, for the first time in China.

Hodges is one of the most respected house DJs in the global scene today and his productions can found in the record crates of all the world's top house jocks such as Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak.

The Canadian broke into the underground house music scene in Toronto in 1991, building a reputation and name for himself around Ontario and then beyond into the rest of his home country. He developed an up tempo and hard-hitting style, before later moving into production teaming up with his mentor DJ Sneak on co-production and remix work.

50 RMB gets you a couple hours' reprieve from this weather. The free included drink will help even more.

The Shelter is located at 5 Yongfu Lu, near Fuxing Xi Lu. Event starts at 10 PM and goes 'till late. Void residents Fish, Nat Alexander, Shanghai_Ultra, and Ben Huang open.

Just curious why this is posted under"live music"
A band plays live music.
A DJ no matter how famous just plays other peoples music.

while I can't speak for this DJ Jason Hodges, it's become increasingly common for DJs to mix live music with a traditional "other peoples' music" set. Especially with today's technology, the line between DJ and "live" music is becoming irrelevant.
