i love this movie.it's the kind of movie that really shows and expresses the real china and its ppl.and i believe it's the reason y it got banned since it talked abt politics and sex, which are two major things that seem not to be talked abt publicly in china although ppl do have lots of sex and do have their own political views against the government. Lou Ye helped to unveil everything in the darkness which not only reminded the generation as Yu Hong,Zhou Wei and Lou Ye himself of that crazy, passionate and bloody period of uni time, but also caused me(behalf of my generation who were born after 1985)endless thinking and imagination of the revolution, the ppl who died for actually no reason, and of course, the future of the country... so because of the special set of this movie,it really goes more than a uni romance story, and that makes it remarkable and a must.

Cool, thanks for the review. Suzhou River was so awesome, and then Purple Butterfly was so incompetent. I'm glad to see he's back on track and I'll check the movie out.
